πŸ’¬ Interview Rounds

The interview process started at around 9:00 AM on 19th August. However, due to the number of candidates and scheduling, my first interview opportunity came only around 4:00 PM.

🧩 Round 1: Technical Interview

  • Type: Technical + Project Discussion + Behavioral

πŸ“ Description:

The interview started with a brief self-introduction, followed by questions about the projects I had worked on.

The discussion then moved toward teamwork and conflict management. I was asked about how I handle conflicts within a team and how I approach such situations.

This was followed by a discussion about my leadership experiences at EDC PICT and MUN PICT, including the responsibilities and experiences I had gained through my roles there.

The interview then shifted towards SQL. I was asked to explain SQL joins and window functions, followed by situational SQL problems where I had to formulate queries based on the given scenario.

The interviewer was very supportive and friendly and remained engaged throughout the interview. One thing I particularly noticed was that the interviewer seemed more interested in understanding my thought process and approach rather than simply looking for the final answer.

Around 10 minutes after the end of the interview, I was informed that I had been selected for the second interview round.

πŸ’‘ Experience & Learnings:

The first interview was quite conversational and comfortable. A major takeaway for me was that being able to clearly explain your reasoning is extremely important.

Having a good understanding of the projects and leadership experiences mentioned on the resume also helped because the interviewer explored these areas in detail.

Outcome: Selected for Round 2

🧩 Round 2: Behavioral / EBI Interview

  • Type: Behavioral + Technical + Problem Solving

πŸ“ Description:

The second interview started with a brief introduction about myself. The interviewer then asked about what I like beyond technology, my family background, and my hobbies.

The discussion then moved towards my experiences as Tech Head at EDC PICT and MUN PICT and the work and responsibilities I handled during my tenure.

After that, we had a detailed conversation about AI and my day-to-day workflow. I was asked about how I leverage AI in my daily work and how I use AI tools as part of my development workflow.

We also discussed the rapidly changing AI ecosystem and what AI technologies and concepts developers should learn to remain relevant in the fast-growing AI landscape.

The interviewer then asked me a simple DSA problem, for which only pseudocode was expected. The focus was more on understanding and explaining the approach rather than writing complete code.

This was followed by another SQL question, with the primary focus again being on joins and window functions.

The interview concluded with a guesstimate. I wasn't able to arrive at the final answer, but I explained my assumptions and approach. The interviewer was satisfied with my thought process, even though I could not completely solve the problem.

Throughout the interview, the interviewer was patient and attentive and gave me enough time to explain my reasoning.

πŸ’‘ Experience & Learnings:

The second interview reinforced the importance of structured thinking and communication. Even when I couldn't solve the guesstimate completely, being able to explain my approach was valuable.

The interview covered projects, leadership, AI, DSA, SQL, and estimation, so being comfortable discussing different areas was important.

Outcome: Selected

πŸ“Š Overall Experience & Tips

Overall Experience:

My overall experience with ZS Associates was very positive. The process covered aptitude, communication, technical skills, projects, leadership, behavioral discussions, and problem-solving.

The interviewers were supportive, friendly, patient, and attentive. The biggest thing I noticed was the importance given to thought process and communication, rather than simply getting every answer correct.

πŸ“š Key Preparation Topics:

  • Aptitude and logical reasoning

  • Communication skills

  • SQL

  • DSA and problem-solving

  • Projects and resume

  • Behavioral and leadership questions

  • AI tools and current AI concepts

  • Basic estimation and structured thinking

πŸ’‘ Tips for Aspirants:

  • Know your resume well and be ready to discuss your projects and experiences.

  • Focus on explaining your thought process, even when you don't know the complete answer.

  • Prepare a good mix of technical, behavioral, and communication skills rather than focusing on only one area.

  • Stay calm and patient throughout the placement process.

πŸ“ Final Takeaway

The biggest takeaway from my ZS Associates interview experience was that the way you think and communicate matters just as much as the final answer.

The process was a good mix of technical skills, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and AI awareness, making it a well-rounded placement experience.
