📅 Application Process

• I applied for Energy Exemplar through my college’s on-campus placement drive.

• A resume shortlisting round was conducted as part of the selection process. Out of a large number of applicants, only 52 candidates were shortlisted to proceed to the Online Assessment (OA) and subsequent interview process.

📋3. Interview Rounds

🧠Round 1: Online Assessment (45 min)

Type: Pen-Paper test

📝Description:
We were given two coding questions to solve. One question was based on Linked Lists, while the other was based on Trees. Both were standard DSA questions, and we were allowed to write the solutions in any programming language of our choice.

Difficulty Level: Easy - medium level

Out of those 52 students 22 were selected for the interview process.

📌Round 2: Technical Interview 1 (45-50 min)

📝Description:

• In this round, the interviewer first asked me to explain the code I had written during the OA in detail. He then discussed the time and space complexities of both solutions.

• After that, he asked me a coding question that was mostly similar to LeetCode 130 – Surrounded Regions and asked me to provide the code solution. He then asked some basic DSA questions.

• The interviewer then shifted the discussion toward my resume and asked me about the work I had done during my internship. After that, he asked me to choose one of my projects on which he could ask questions in depth. He then spent around 30 minutes discussing the project in detail.

• First, I was asked to draw the architecture diagram of my project. The interviewer then questioned me about each and every component of the architecture in detail. Therefore, it is important to have a thorough understanding of every aspect and component of your project.

• At the end of the discussion, the interviewer was impressed and told me that it seemed like I had actually implemented the project myself, which was a very positive indication.

📌Round 3 : Technical Interview 2 (40-45 min)

Description:
This round was mainly focused on System Design. The interviewer mentioned that the discussion would primarily focus on HLD (High-Level Design), and toward the end, he might also ask about LLD (Low-Level Design), including what classes and objects could be used in the system.

The interviewer initially asked me about my hobbies. I mentioned that I enjoy listening to Arijit Singh's songs. Based on this, he asked me to design a completely new system for Arijit Singh from an admin's perspective.

The system consisted of three different types of logins:

He then asked me to create the HLD architecture for this system. I carefully listened to every requirement and detail that he provided before starting the design. While drawing the architecture diagram, I also asked relevant questions to clarify his requirements and make sure that I was designing the system according to the expected functionality.

After completing the architecture, the interviewer questioned me about each and every component and step of the design, starting from JWT authentication and going all the way to the Notification Service.

The questions covered various important System Design concepts, including:

• Scalability and how to scale the system

• Caching and where it should be implemented

• Queues and asynchronous processing

• Load balancing

• Database management and how to handle database scalability

• API requests and how they should be handled

• Memory management

• Handling users from different geographical regions and addressing regional differences and requirements

• Several other System Design-related concepts and scenarios were asked.

For the Notification Service, I explained how n8n could be used for workflow automation and notification handling.

The interviewer then asked me about Microservices, Kafka, and Azure, since these technologies were mentioned on my resume. He expected me to have a proper understanding of the technologies I had listed and asked questions around how and why they were used.

Overall, this round was very deeply focused on System Design, and it was important to understand not only the architecture but also the reasoning behind every component, technology, and design decision.

📌Round 4: Technical Interview 3 (40-45 min)

Description:

• The interviewer initially asked me about my projects and internship experience in brief. After that, the discussion shifted toward Machine Learning concepts, followed by several questions related to Artificial Intelligence concepts.

• He then asked me about the dataset I had selected to train a model for one of my projects, including the reasoning behind choosing that particular dataset. Since LangChain, LangGraph, and LangSmith were mentioned in my projects, the interviewer also asked me questions about these technologies and how I had used them

• After that, I was given a GFG puzzle to solve. The interviewer provided hints whenever required and evaluated my approach and problem-solving ability.

• Towards the end, the interviewer gave me a system scenario and asked me to design a database for that system. He then asked several follow-up questions based on the database design, including questions about the choices and decisions I had made while designing it.

🎯Tips:

1. Make sure you have an in-depth understanding of every technology mentioned on your resume.

2. Be prepared to explain why, where, and how you used each technology in your projects.

3. Do not mention a technology on your resume unless you are confident that you can answer detailed questions about it.

📌Round 5: HR Interview (15-20 min)

Description:
This round was relatively relaxed and conversational. The interviewer first asked me how my day was going and then asked about where I see myself in the next five years. She also asked me how many interviews I had appeared for previously.

After that, she shifted the discussion toward the company and explained their work culture and the various benefits provided to their employees.

📊4. Overall Experience and Tips

• Overall Interview Experience:
  Overall, the interview experience was very valuable and helped boost my confidence. After going through so many rounds, I was able to identify my strong areas as well as the areas where I need to focus and improve further. The entire process also gave me a better understanding of how I perform under different types of interview discussions and technical evaluations.

• Verdict: Selected ✅
  At the end of the process, they called the selected candidates one by one and explained the complete salary structure to us. Finally, 5 students were selected, and I was absolutely thrilled to be one of them.
