My approach during problem-solving: Started with a brute-force solution to establish correctness Gradually optimized the solution while clearly explaining: Time and space complexity Trade-offs between different approaches All edge cases and constraints The interviewer focused heavily on: Depth of understanding rather than just the final answer Clarity of thought and structured reasoning Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively Both problems were solved within the interview, with optimized solutions and thorough explanations
